| Video Discription | Zika virus disease (ZVD) is a mosquito borne disease primarily transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito from the Aedes genus, mainly Aedes aegypti, in tropical and subtropical regions. This is the same mosquito that transmits dengue, chikungunya and yellow fever. Zika virus disease has been reported in WHO’s South East Asian Region and the mosquito is also found in the most part of the region. Hence WHO-SEARO provides support to Member States to initiate control and preventive measures including preparing for and responding to outbreaks of Zika Virus Disease. Creating awareness among general public is important as public can prevent mosquito bites and mosquito breeding. In this context , this short film focuses on the disease, symptoms, spread of the disease through mosquitoes and measures to prevent the disease to the general public |
