August 31st, 2023: Crackdown on Spam & Scams - YouTube is taking serious measures against spammers and scammers who flood Shorts with re-uploads and deceptive links. No more hyperlinks in Shorts comments and descriptions, and no more clickable social media icons on desktop channel banners. Unwanted Side Effects - Sadly, legitimate links to social media, sponsored sites, affiliate pages, and other videos will become non-clickable text too. August 23rd, 2023: Prominent Clickable Links on Channel Pages - Creators can add up to 12 clickable links near the ‘Subscribe’ button on both mobile and desktop. Better visibility and control for YouTube to monitor spam and abuse.
