The USMLE is the licensing exam required to practise medicine in the United States. πΊπ²πΊπ² There are two visa options available, letβs have a look at them: β 1. J1 Visa βΌοΈ The J1 Visa is the most common visa obtained by international medical graduates. Known as the Exchange Visitor Visa, it is issued to US research scholars, professors, and exchange visitors participating in medical training programs. π Eligibility Requirements for the J1 Visa: - You should have passed USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK or equivalent. - You should have a valid ECFMG certificate. - You should have a contract or an official letter of offer for a position in a Graduate Medical Education (GME) training program. - You should provide a statement of need from the Ministry of Health of the country of your last Legal Permanent Residence (LPR), regardless of your citizenship. β 2. H-1B Visa βΌοΈ The H-1B is a non-immigrant visa for temporary workers in specialty occupations holding professional-level degrees.
