The temple, built in the second quarter of the fifth century BC, was the very model of the fully developed classical Greek temple of the Doric order. It is estimated that the temple's height up to the pediment was 68 feet (20.7 m), its breadth was 95 feet (29.0 m), and its length 230 feet (70.1 m). It was approached by a ramp on the east side. The Eastern pediment depicts the chariot race between Pelops and Oenomaus while the Western pediment features a centauromachy with Theseus and the Lapiths. The temple housed the renowned statue of Zeus, which was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Chryselephantine (gold and ivory) statue was approximately 13 m (43 ft) high, and was made by the sculptor Phidias in his workshop on the site at Olympia. The statue's completion took approximately 13 years (470–457 BC) and was one of Classical Greece's most revered artistic works. In 426 AD, Theodosius II ordered the destruction of the sanctuary during the Persecution of pagans in the late Roman Empire. It is the eleventh major installment, and 21st overall, in the Assassin's Creed series and the successor to 2017's Assassin's Creed Origins. Set in the years 431-422 BC, the plot tells a mythological history of the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta. Players control a male or female mercenary (Ancient Greek: μίσθιος misthios) who fights on both sides of the conflict as they attempt to find their family. The game's genetic memory story is set in 431 BCE, recounting the secret history of the Peloponnesian War, fought between the city-states of ancient Greece. The protagonist is a mercenary named either Alexios or Kassandra (selectable) who can choose to fight for either Athens and the Delian League or Sparta and the Peloponnesian League, as well as against the Cult of Kosmos. The modern day segments will again follow Layla Hassan, who was first introduced in Assassin's Creed Origins, and her story will touch on the Isu.
