| Video Discription | Tatya Tope, also called Tantia Tope, is an important leader who fought the British forces in 1857 along with Nana Saheb and Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. He was born in Nasik in Maharashtra in 1814 and his father was a noble in the court of Peshwa Baji Rao II. There he became friends with Nana Saheb and fought to take the city of Kanpur. But he was defeated there twice and again went to fight for Rani Laxmibai. Even after these defeats, he did not lose his spirit, he engaged in guerrilla tactics to attack the British soldiers. He was betrayed by Man Singh, the ruler of Narwar who handed him over to the British. He was tried at Shivpuri and hanged on 18th April, 1859.
