| Video Discription | After 100+ years of use, Milwaukee Road's steepest grade will go silent. Tacoma Rail's mountain division consists of the ex-Milwaukee road RoW that stretches from Tacoma to Eatonville and until the early 2000s all the way to Morton. The municipality owned shortline is citing high operating costs involved with tackling the nearly 4% grade as reason for abandoning the line. The customers in Frederickson will be served by Thurston County based Rainier Rail. Rainier will go to Frederickson from the south instead of through Tacoma. The part of the line from Tacoma to Frederickson will remain mothballed until further notice. It is unknown whether this line will ever see traffic again. Please enjoy. |
