Day 5 :)
What a day, man! I didn’t expect to be so quick at making decisions. Haha! I woke up with no plans but in a fraction of a second, I decided to visit Padmanabhaswamy Temple. Of course, it wasn’t out of the blue; I realized I’d get my period if I delayed any further, and I badly wanted to take Lord Vishnu’s Darshan. So, I freshened up in like 10 minutes, had breakfast at my auntie’s place, and got on my bike to leave for the railway station. From there, I took a train to Trivandrum.
The train experience brought a wave of nostalgia as I recollected memories from my childhood train journeys. It was a 50-minute journey from Varkala to Trivandrum, and before I finished reminiscing, I had almost reached the railway station. From there, I took a service auto to Padmanabhaswamy Temple. To my surprise, the crowd was larger than ever because it was an auspicious day! I felt lucky to have the Darshan, but I was equally tense about getting my period.
Once inside, I was puzzled about whether to buy the ₹500 ticket or not. I decided against it, which turned out to be a mistake, and as mentioned in the video, the struggle was real! But in the end, it was an amazing Darshan of Lord Vishnu. I felt blessed and that it was destined for me to have the Darshan. To my surprise, I got my period exactly the next day—talk about perfect timing!
After the Darshan, my happiness was evident on my face. With full josh, I took an auto and had a decent Onam Sadhya. Then I took an auto back to the railway station, hopped on a train, and reached the House of Surf. Haha, because I missed having tea in the morning, I couldn’t wait to go to Auntie’s shop and have it there. Later, I met Azru and joined their friends to visit Mantra Beach. It was so peaceful and calm, and we spent some quality time there before heading back to the hostel.
While returning, I was starving because I had an early lunch. I found another shop, had dosa, and the uncle there was so sweet to offer an omelet. I didn’t have space to eat it, so I told him I’d visit again soon, but unfortunately, I missed catching up with him again. I’ll never forget the chat we had. I came back, had a chit-chat with our lovely girls at the hostel, and slept with a tummy full of dosas.
If you watched the video till the end, thanks as always! See you soon with another interesting day. Take care! |
