| Video Discription | You are 10 times more likely to be killed in a road crash if you’re not wearing a seat belt in a car. In a crash, a person who is not restrained by a seatbelt will continue to travel forward at the speed the vehicle was travelling until something stops them. This could be the steering wheel, dashboard or windscreen. In some crashes, the person may burst through one of the windows and be partially or fully ejected from the vehicle, exposing them to other dangers. Regardless of these facts, parents are not buckling up their children and some are even being busted with kids in car footwells while doing the school run. Hundreds of parents were caught with unrestrained children in 2014 alone. Most notably, an unrestrained child was found in a car with an alleged drink driver, following a police pursuit in central NSW. This is a national problem with Victoria Police figures showing 10,610 drivers in the last five years being caught driving with an unrestrained child. It doesn't matter if you are only travelling a few kilometres - most road crashes happen close to home and even at low speed not wearing a seat belt can cause serious injury and death. As a community driven car dealership we are currently perusing several initiates that will help with improving road safety.
