The London Eye is the tallest observation wheel in Europe. It is situated on the south bank of the river Thames, in the heart of London. Standing 443 feet high, it gives you a panoramic view of the UK capital. You can buy tickets on the day, in the ticket office, but it is recommended to buy them online in advance, which is cheaper too. The London Eye has 32 pods, one for each of the city’s 32 boroughs. Each pod holds up to 25 people who are free to walk around inside or sit on the bench and enjoy the views. The wheel rotates at 10 inches per second and the whole ride takes about 30 minutes. The views from The London Eye pods are absolutely amazing. On the other bank of the river Thames, you can see Elizabeth Tower (widely known as Big Ben), the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. As you go higher, you can spot St Paul’s Cathedral and the City of London. From the top of the London Eye, on a clear day, you can see up to 15 miles in all directions.
