| Video Discription | #Diwali is the festival of lights celebrated in India. It commemorates the victory of good over evil. The Hindus living in the #NorthEast of India also celebrate Diwali even if they may not follow all the rituals as followed by the rest of India. In #Assam, Diwali highlights a lot of cultural nuances owing to it's diversity. While some offer animals (mainly goats) as sacrifices to Goddess Kali, others hold a slew of cultural performances in their localities. Jhandi Munda (Crown and the Arrow), a traditional gambling board game is common in the rural areas of Assam during Diwali. A Google search will also reveal that this game is also played in Nepal. Other than that, the Nepalis of Assam have occasions around Diwali which are specific to Nepalese culture. Like all the other Hindu majority tribes of Assam, the Dimasa Hindus have also celebrated Diwali since time immemorial. They decorate their houses, some visit temples and indulge themselves in the celebrations. This video is a sarcastic look at People of Assam during Diwali. It is by no means an accurate representation of the Assamese culture or people from Assam, but I hope you take away some laughs from this exaggerated piece of comedy lol.
