| Video Discription | (1 Mar 1980) Zimbabwe Zanu (PF) leader Robert Mugabe replies to questions at a press conference in Dar es Salaam, capital of Tanzania, where he went to consult with Tanzanian leader Julius Nyerere. In the wake of last week's nationwide elections in Zimbabwe, the results of which will be made known on Wednesday, there is widespread speculation over which party, or probably coalition of parties, will be called upon to govern the country. Mr Mugabe's radical Zanu Party is expected to win the largest number of seats in parliament, but not enough to have an outright majority. Many view a coalition between Zanu and Joshua Nkomo's Patriotic Front as almost inevitable. Others believe that Mr Nkomo's party may join with Bishop Muzorewa's United African National Council (UANC) to form the next government. Note: A commonwealth military force has been in Zimbabwe throughout the election campaign and voting to help ensure security. In addition an 11-nation 63-member commonwealth observer group have been in the country for the five past weeks to ensure fair elections. The nations are: Australia, Bangladesh, Barbados, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Sierra Leone and Sri Lanka. The group was led by Rajeshwar Dayal, of India.
