| Video Discription | May 1 is celebrated as international workers/ labors day in 165 countries, including India. While this day is known as a national holiday to most of us, the blood filled history behind this day is not known to many. In this video, let's see why May 1 became a day for workers and why it is celebrated as international workers day. All this started at the time of industrial revolution and industrialization in western countries in the middle of 19th century. When the poor workers were exploited for profit by the capitalist bosses, few socialist groups came forward and formed unions to help the workers. This slowly led to around 2 lakh workers coming to the street and joining a strike to fight for their rights. Many workers lost their lives and were badly injured in these strikes and peaceful protests. One such incident became the reason why this may 1 is celebrated as international workers day.
