| Video Discription | In this video, Joseph provides an overview of how a Ph.D. student was able to get his green card despite several uphill challenges along the way. The client was a Ph.D. student in the U.S. conducting important research on cancer. He was approved for the EB-1A extraordinary ability immigrant visa but had to wait several years for his priority date to be current. During this time, he graduated from his Ph.D. program and his OPT was fast expiring but he still had to wait for his green card. He contacted our firm to prepare an emergency O-1A “self-petition” extraordinary ability case, which we filed in less than 2 months after extensive research. Unfortuantely, the case was issued a challenging Request for Evidence (RFE) that questioned several issues, including the fact that the company was located at his home address. Our firm spent several months preparing an in-depth response to each point in the RFE and the case was approved. In the meantime, his priority date became current and our firm quickly put together his family’s I-485 Adjustment of Status applications in just a few weeks and also requested USCIS to expedite the case. Their green cards were issued in less than a year, despite the long backlogs from COVID-19! Let’s get to it.
