| Video Discription | Brussels 21/11/22 - Our office recently co-hosted a meeting with other faith-based organisations across Africa and Europe exploring what the Global Gateway initiative means for local communities in the Africa-Europe Partnership. The importance of recognising and incorporating the role of local communities in broader geopolitical partnerships was emphasised. Some elements needed to facilitate this were also discussed during the conversation, such as increasing transparency and trust, improving mechanisms for engagement at all levels, broadening the conception of knowledge valuable for the partnership, and acknowledging the historic dynamics of the relationship. Local communities have much to contribute in practical aspects of the partnership, but also in the dialogue on the principles that must underlie the relationship between the two countries. |
