In the heart of the desert, a poor nomadic family struggles to make ends meet. They find unexpected support from a kind engineer who provides financial and emotional support. However, when the engineer goes on a trip to Iraq and Karbala, the family faces daunting challenges.
During this time, Nemat, the eldest son of a nomadic family and the son-in-law of a philanthropic engineer, meets Zainab, a young and only nomadic woman, and her small child by the river. They ask Nemat for help, and he sympathetically accepts them, despite the tensions he creates with his wife, Umm al-Binin, and even his mother.
After the engineer's return, he finds out through a filmmaker's film that Nemat mistreated Umm al-Binin. The angry engineer confronts Nemat and forcibly separates him and Zainab from the nomadic family. This action sparks a conflict between Nemat and the nomadic family, who strongly resist.
Feeling bitter and resentful, Nemat returns to torment the family and asks them to leave the house that he insists on building for himself and Umm al-Binin. This escalates the conflict between Nemat, the nomadic family, and the benevolent engineer, who tries to mediate, but is fired once again due to Nemat's continued misbehavior.
In the meantime, Ali, who was motivated by his remorse and love for Umm al-Binin, seeks her love and offers her an engagement ring. Their mutual love blossoms, while Nemat becomes increasingly jealous and conflicted. This romantic conflict increases the tensions.
In a pivotal scene, Nemat returns to the nomadic family, determined to take his daughters, but they refuse to go with him. His mother also opposes his plans, leading to a dramatic confrontation. Nemat tries to lure his daughters with school supplies to trick them, but they firmly reject his advances with the support of their grandmother.
At the same time, the benevolent engineer complains about Nemat and asks for a divorce for his daughter Umm al-Binin.
This narrative highlights the complexities and emotional disturbances within the nomadic family and their interaction with the engineer and Nemat. It explores themes of betrayal, love, jealousy, and family loyalty in a rugged, natural setting.
