Changing a common battery every couple of years is usually not a problem except when its in a hard to reach clock high up on a wall or inside a case that's hard to open or access. These larger batteries simply store more electricity. A C cell movement is larger than an AA battery powered clock movement in order to hold a larger battery. If you have room for it you can double the length of time between battery changes especially if you use fresh alkaline batteries. If you're using high torque movements for large hands the turning power or torque is the same for either a AA battery or a C Battery Movement. When using regular time only or time and pendulum movements there's a difference in the capacity of C Cell movements and the smaller AA battery versions.
