| Video Discription | People living in or near the Amazon face a dilemma. Many want to avoid cutting down trees in the world’s largest rainforest. But how do they resist the financial urge to provide for their families by clearing land to plant cash crops or graze cattle? The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is working with UNDP and the Government of Ecuador to find ways to overcome this challenge. There are ways to combine forest preservation and livelihood protection. And there is not a moment to lose. Deforestation is causing about 20 percent of the world’s unsustainable emission of greenhouse gases.
