He starred in over 200 films between 1953 and 1993 until his death. He often portrayed a character with authority, such as a police inspector or landlord, but with comic effect, mostly as a slow-speaking person. His acting career was particularly prolific in the 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s. He had a very thin voice, in striking contrast to his huge physical frame. Asit Kumar Sen was born on May 13, 1917 in Gorakhpur, United Provinces of Agra and Oudh, British India. He was an actor, known for Anand (1971), Mamta (1966) and Yakeen (1969). He died on September 18, 1993. Father of actor Abhijeet Sen. Had a elder brother who was strict and did allow Asit to watch films. Came to the film industry to be a still cameraman. But could not find any work. Daughter name is Roopa Gupta. Was a assistant director to Bimal Roy. Director B.R. Ishara practically lived at his house for 25 years. His dog Kajal was used in B.R. Ishara's film Doosra Roop. Son Abhijit Sen directs films in Calcutta. He was a assistant to Victor Bannerjee, Dulal Guha. His younger son Sujit Sen was the only steady cam operator in Bombay. He worked in Mahesh Bhatt's Gumrah,. B.R. Ishara wanted to launch daughter Roopa in films. She refused the offer. Son Sujit is married to Zarna Sen and have 2 children.
