| Video Discription | A box of General Electric 21-watt 2D Series CFL (compact fluorescent light) bulbs. These bulbs reportedly have the equivalent brightness of a traditional 75 watts incandescent bulb while drawing only 21 watts. The ballasts are rated for 22 watts, which I don't understand since the corresponding fluorescent tubes are only 21 watts. These bulbs replicate the soft, welcoming glow of an incandescent bulb quite nicely. They are a small size which fits properly in a typical size lamp. The ballast has a claimed lifespan of 40,000 hours and the tubes have a claimed lifespan of 8,000 hours. These bulbs are very well made and designed. Unlike the more common spiral shaped CFL bulbs, these can be mounted with the ballast up or down and there should be no significant change in lifespan as the heat would be dissipating towards the side of the ballast and not right up to it. |
